Not making it up.
Not “just anxiety.”
Chronic Illness Therapy in Nashville, TN
for bodies that haven’t been believed.
The loneliness of chronic illness is specific and brutal
in a way that's almost impossible to describe to someone who hasn't lived it:
Canceling plans again because of flares, and the shame that follows for letting people down.
Being dismissed by doctors, disbelieved by people who love you - having to explain it all again.
The stress of monitoring your capacity, and the longing that follows for a body you don't have to negotiate with.
The grief of not looking sick enough, and the guilt that comes with needing accommodations.
It costs a lot to live in a body that's been bracing to survive in ways nobody can see.
When getting help feels like a trap
Medical trauma can come from a single harmful ER visit or from years of being dismissed and doubted by providers who were supposed to care.
You were never meant to become your own expert and advocate in rooms that were supposed to help.
Your body holds that pain too
This isn't a flaw in you - it's what happens when the systems meant to help you became one more thing you had to survive.
I'm sorry our systems failed you first. Our work starts with belief,
actual listening, trusting your experience, and real care.
I take a nuanced approach to chronic illness: I don't assume your physical symptoms are the result of some emotional failure, and I know your nervous system has been carrying an enormous load.
I work with people navigating the psychological weight of chronic illness and complex medical conditions, not because I read about it in a textbook, but because I've lived it, advocated inside it, and built a practice around the intersection of chronic illness, complex trauma, and nervous system dysregulation.
Therapy for chronic illness isn’t a workaround; it’s part of comprehensive care.
Our work together can ease the weight your body and nervous system have been carrying. It can support your quality of life, and in many cases, help reduce the intensity of flares.

No. You do not need diagnostic proof. I trust your judgement with what resonates for you and your body.
-
I call it hEDS+ because when it comes to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, there are 13 recognized varieties that make up this bunch of connective tissue disorders, with hypermobile EDS as the most common presentation.
The “+” is also set to represent the common co-occurring disorders that then overlap and tend to cluster together with EDS: POTs, MCAS, CSF LEAKS, CCI, etc. -
Theres more than I could possibly list - or even know - no problem here, lets discuss your needs during a consultation call.

This is a question I have sat and pondered. Booked and held appointments are how I make my income, meaning there must be boundaries in place to protect my time and livelihood.
My policy is as follows:
To cancel or reschedule without charge, I require at least 48 hours notice prior to your scheduled session time.
In efforts to support those with additional needs:
If you are able to reschedule your appointment within the same calendar week, and I have the availability to do so, the late cancellation fee may be waived at my discretion, provided a same-week opening is available. This option cannot be guaranteed. Exceptions may be made at my discretion in the event of a documented emergency.
You may also always switch last minute to a virtual appointment - no advanced notice required. -
No. Therapy works alongside your medical care; it doesn't replace it. I'm a strong advocate for integrative care, and I'm glad to collaborate and enjoy speaking with your other providers, given your written consent.
*If you have not been evaluated by a medical doctor for issues related to chronic illness concerns and any reported symptoms, I will refer you for a medical evaluation as the first step of our work together. I take medical care seriously, meaning you will be encouraged to be an active participant in all related medical care.

I am not a medical doctor. I do not diagnose or treat physical health conditions.
Your body doesnt need to convince me of its pain
I am not going to ask you to explain your condition from scratch, justify your diagnosis, or convince me you're sick enough to be here.
